Highlights
HIGHLIGHTS
Highlights are a great way to add a little color to your hair in a fun or elegant way – your choice. Whether you want to strategically cover those grays (without opting for all-over color) or prefer that sun-kissed look that makes it seem as though you spent all summer at the beach instead of office, then highlights are for you.
With a number of shades to choose from, including those that look completely natural and others that resemble all the bright colors found in the rainbow, we can help you choose highlights that frame your face, give depth, or just amp up that fresh look you’re going for!
Full Highlights
Full highlights, as expected, cover your entire head. They often go from front to back or vice versa, adding in natural (or unnatural, depending on your preferences) hints of color. Less invasive and more maintenance friendly than a full, all-over dye job, full highlights focus on the top layers of your hair where they’ll be seen. Just how thick or thin you want those highlights to be depends on the overall vision that you’re going for, as well as the number of colors that you want highlighted in your tresses. We’ll discuss this in depth, once you’re comfy in a chair at our salon.
Partial Highlights
Sometimes a touch is all you need! If you just want a little bit of color, sprinkled in here and there on your hair, then a partial head of highlights in your best bet. Designed to give your existing hair color a bit of a lift, without the commitment and upkeep of full highlights, partials can be used to strategically cover those gray hairs, as well as add some sun-kissed color.
And the best part? Partial highlights can be placed over a full head of color in order to make the finished results look much more natural. After all, natural hair color is almost never all the same on one head – there are always plenty of variations. So, let’s find your perfect highlight balance!
Balayage
Speaking of variations, there’s nothing more varied, yet natural looking, than balayage. This technique is a form of highlighting the hair so that it consists of natural color variations as it moves down the hair shafts. For example, with balayage, the top of the head is darker, with highlights placed from the middle of the hair length down, thicker in the middle portions and thinning out towards the ends to make it look as though you’ve been out in the sun a lot. The thicker portions of the balayaged highlights are slightly darker than the thinner sections at the ends, adding to the overall ooh-la-la illusion!
Touch-Ups
Everyone loves touch-ups! No matter whether you choose a full head of highlights, a partial head of highlights, or a balayage look, you’re going to need a touch-up at some point. We can handle that at Style by Izzy, adding to your existing highlights, making your roots lighter so that the highlights look more natural, or even touching up the ends of your balayage. Matching the colors of your existing highlights is easy for our trained colorists, and the end results will make you look great!
